BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Tuesday, September 4. - The Department of Information continuing the Get to know ASEAN Roadshow programme to Nusa Laila Puteri Secondary School (SM NLP). The program which was held at the school hall was attended by 36 students of Year 7, 8 and 9 of the school.
Also present were SM NLP Professor Dayang Rosalinda David Abdullah and the school's teachers.
The programme aims to provide more exposure and disseminate information on ASEAN-based information to school students in the country through the International Affairs Unit, Department of Information, as the Secretariat for Sub-Committee on Information, ASEAN-COCI.
The briefing was presented by Information Officer, Head of International Affairs Unit, Department of Information, Dayang Mufidah binti Abdul Hakim.
The purpose of the roadshow is to familiarise and broaden the basic information related to ASEAN to secondary school students in the country as they are the youths who will inherit the continuity of the nation and thus play an important role in catalysing this country's direction.
It is also intended to raise the awareness and knowledge of schoolchildren on ASEAN as well as to identify the extent to which students are aware of ASEAN and the role of this organisation in developing member countries.
The briefing also promotes awareness and sense of belonging amongst school students as an ASEAN community, in line with the ASEAN Moto: One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
Students also have the opportunity to join the ASEAN Quiz conducted by the International Affairs Unit and concludes with a prize giving session to students who have successfully completed the ASEAN quiz.
The programme is one of the department's ongoing efforts in injecting patriotism and the unity of the students amongst them to both embrace ASEAN's function and purpose.
At the same time, to strengthen the department relationship with the community, especially students in Brunei Darussalam.
