Information Youth Peer Programme, shaping positive minds and morale

GADONG, Tuesday, March 5. - The Information Youth Peer Programme (Rakan Remaja Penerangan-RRP) organised by the Department of Information through its Nationhood Unit, Nationhood and Community Division is a guided entertainment programme for teenagers especially secondary school students, in disseminating information and current happenings, other than approaching these students to be aware of the developments and affairs around them.
 
The Information Youth Peer Programme was held at the Multipurpose Hall of Menglait Secondary School and was attended by 296 students of Year 9 and Year 10. It is expected to instil the spirit of nationhood and social responsibility among the youths as well as to shape students as agents in disseminating positive and effective information to their peers. 

The event began with the singing of the national anthem of Brunei Darussalam 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' and the patriotic song 'Bendera Negara', followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.

A Nationhood briefing on 'Our Soverign, Appreciating Our National Flag and National Anthem' was presented by the Head of Nationhood Unit of the Nationhood and Community Division, Dayang Hajah Hamsah binti Datu Kerna Haji Jaya.
 
The programme continued with video presentations on the national flag, 'Semarak Pengibaran Bendera Negara', followed by a hafazan and syair performance by students of the school. The programme also included singing and comedy-drama performances by the Department of Information as well as a quiz.

The programme aims to provide civic awareness and the spirit of nationhood, especially to teenagers towards shaping positive minds and morale, and at the same time approach the youth and secondary students through guided entertainment.

Present as guest of honour was the Acting Head of Special Education Unit (UPK), Ministry of Education, Awang Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor. Also present were, Deputy Principal (Administration), Dayang Hajah Khadijah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, and teachers of the school.
