Department of Information committed to disseminating ASEAN info to students

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Thursday, June 27. -The Department of Information, Prime Minister's Office, through its International Affairs Unit, as the Secretariat for the Subcommittee of Information (SCI) ASEAN-COCI held the 'Get To Know ASEAN' roadshow at the Multipuropse Hall of Rimba II Secondary School.

 

Present as the guest of honour was the Principal of Rimba II Secondary School, Dayang Hajah Siti Khadijah binti Haji Damit, teachers and students of the school.

 

The roadshow included the national anthem of Brunei Darussalam 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' and the ASEAN theme song 'The ASEAN Way', followed by the 'Get To Know ASEAN' briefing presented by Special Duties Officer Grade II, the head of the International Affairs Unit at the Department of Information, Awang Abdul Karim bin Hamdan.

 

The roadshow continued with a video clip on ASEAN to expose the students about ASEAN.

 

Students also had the opportunity to join the ASEAN Quiz conducted by Information Field Officer of the International Affairs Unit, Awang Haji Abdul Hanif bin Haji Abdul Rahim.

 

The roadshow also promoted the mobile application of 'We ASEAN', which information on ASEAN and ASEAN member states ASEAN Calendar, quizzes, pictures and video galleries.
 
The application is one of the projects under the Sub-Committee on Information (SCI) ASEAN-COCI and can be downloaded from Google Play for Android users and App Store for iOS users.

 

The briefing was aimed to disseminate and spread general knowledge on ASEAN to secondary school students in the country, as they are the youths who will inherit the continuity of the nation and thus play a key role as the catalyst in guiding this country's direction.

 

In addition, The briefings were intended to increase students' knowledge on ASEAN and to know how much the students know about ASEAN as well as its role in developing its member states.

 

This briefing ia also to instill a sense of belonging among students as a member of the ASEAN community, in lilne with the ASEAN Moto, One Vision, One Identity, One Community.
