The Department of Information
initially had a Mini Reference Library (Mini
Perpustakaan Rujukan Jabatan Penerangan)
established in 1992 as a document storage and reference centre for the department’s
officers and staffs. It was officially opened for the public in February 1993,
especially for researchers and students. Renovations were carried out at the
end of 2018, and re-named as the Penerangan Resource
Center. It is located on the 2nd Floor, Main Building Department of Information. The center was officiated by Yang
Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohammad Daud, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, on January 14,
2019. The Penerangan
Resource Center provides documents, reference materials and sources of information
related to Brunei Darussalam's state affairs, as well as other countries in
the form of print media. This effort is in line with the role and function of
the department that is to provide and disseminate information as the voice
and ear of the government related to the development of current issues as
well as the goals and policies of the government and the country. In addition to provide information and news on
government policies, activities and programmes as well as gathering public
issues and concerns, understanding the agenda of the mass media as well as to
nurture and preserve the spirit of
loving the monarch and nation.
Collection
Penerangan Resource Center has several special
collections such as the departments publications namely books, magazines as
well as Pelita Brunei, the official government newspaper; Titah-Titah is a collection of royal addresses by His
Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, The Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam since 1987; A publication on His Majesty's overseas official visit; Tetamu Negara is a publication focusing
on state visits of foreign dignitaries to Brunei Darussalam; Hasrat Negara is a publication focusing on royal
addresses (Titah) of His Majesty
and congratulatory messages in conjunction with His Majesty’s birthday
celebration; Haluan is a publication focusing on speech of Cabinet Ministers; Annual Report in Malay and English language; Pelita
Brunei Newspaper collection since 1954; Brunei Darussalam Newsletter, a book
featuring developments of the four districts in Brunei Darussalam. As well as
courtesy books from the ministries and
public service commission, courtesy of high commission officials and the
embassies of friendly nations to Brunei Darussalam and the public. The
public are welcome to use the Penerangan Resource Centre during working days
from 8.00am to 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm. III. PHOTO REQUEST: Infofoto Gallery:
This gallery is accessible at www.infofoto.gov.bn.
It features pictures
of ceremonies and events attended by His Majesty The Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and members of the royal family. The public are welcome to request
photos from the
Photography Unit by submitting a request form that can be downloaded from the
department's website. In addition, the department also
receives coverage requests from government agencies for specific events or
ceremonies such as national events. IV. NEWS COVERAGE: The department also provides news coverage
and photo through Pelita Brunei newspaper. Government agencies, private or public

must apply media accreditation from this department. Application form can
