BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Wednesday, July 3. - More than 1,000 filled the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque for the 'Semarak Hari Keputeraan' or Glorifying the Royal Birthday programme in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 73rd birthday celebration in both expressing gratitude and loyalty as the people and residents of this country to the monarch and also the leader of this country.
The programme organised by the Department of Information was intended to instill and enhance the loyalty and love of the people and residents to the sovereign and at the same time to raise awareness on the roles and responsibilities of the people to the monarch and the nation's leaders.
Present as the guest of honour was the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd. Daud.
Also present were the Honourable Members of the Legislative Council; Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; Heads of Departments; Deputy Heads of Departments; Heads of Mukims and Village Chiefs.
Invited guests comprised of senior officials and officials from Ministries and Government departments; lecturers; graduates; teachers and students of government primary, secondary, religious and private schools; uniformed personnel; private companies and residents of mukims and villages in all four districts
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Superintendent the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Awang Zulkifle bin Haji Murat, followed by a Hafazan Performance and Understanding of Surah An-Nisa Verses 57 to 59 by Awang Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran, The champion of the Champion of Category 'E' at the National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and Understanding competitionwhile the meaning of the verses was read by Awang Mohammad Fahmi Izzuddin bin Begawan Mudim Haji Tamin.
At the ceremony, the Minister, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti also delivered a Special Speech which emphasised on loyalty towards the sovereign.
This was followed by a a mass sunat Hajat prayerand recitation of Surah Al-Waqi'ah and Sayyidul Istighfar led by the Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque Officer, Awang Mohd. Hasnal bin Haji Mohd and concluded with the Prayer 'Allah Peliharakan Sultan' by Awang Zulkifle bin Haji Murat.
Besides enhancing the respect and affection of the people towards the sovereign and the nation's leaders who are symbols of the greatness and sovereignty of the nation and country, the programme also enhances the people's and the residents' gratitude of this country towards the leadership and government of His Majesty and to brighten and enliven the Birthday celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through religious events.
The Department of Information organised this religiously-inspired Semarak Hari Keputeraan Programme in calling on the people of the country to continue to pledge and express unselfish gratitude and devotion, a deep love for the beloved monarch.
