BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Saturday, July 6. - A total of 31 teachers, officers and staff from Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB) Gadong visited the Department of Information at the Old Airport, Berakas.
The visit aimed to provide knowledge on the role, function and mechanism of the Department of Information in disseminating information and learning the impact of social and media information in this day and age.
The delegation led by senior teacher, Dayang Faridah binti Abdul Hamid, Head of the Teacher Professional Development (TPD) Maktab Duli, was welcomed by Information Officer, who is also the Head of Public Relations and Media Services Unit, Awang Ali Termizi bin Haji Ramlli / Haji Ramli at the Conference Room of the Department of Information Headquarters.
In his briefing, Awang Ali Termizi, among others, touched on the role of the Department of Information in maintaining the image of the monarch, state and government in delivering information and news to the public.
The Department of Information work strategies are channeled through Print Media such as the Government Official Newspaper 'Pelita Brunei' Monday, Wednesday and Saturday editions, nationhood-oriented books and others,such as via face-to-face communication or dialogue sessions and New Media, which includes Facebook (Jabatan Penerangan Jabatan Perdana Menteri), Instagram (@ infodept.bn) and Twitter (infodept_bn).
The briefing touched on news publishing, news and image selection process, news and articles editing, advertising as well as the history and background of Pelita Brunei.
The event was continued with a question-and-answer session followed by a visit to the Photography Unit; Pelita Brunei Division; Penerangan Recource Centre; and Publishing and Graphics Division to take a closer look at how the officers and staff of the Division and the Unit carry out their respective duties.
